THE WEEKEND RECORDING WORKSHOP

Limited to 10 people. This workshop focuses on teaching the fundamentals of recording. Topics include basic signal flow, microphone types, selection and placement, and how to record sound to tape and to computer. You will learn proper mixing environment, techniques and speaker selection, how to monitor while recording, headphone mixing, and reference mixes versus final mixes.
Pro Tools Classes
Using Pro Tools: Level 1

Limited to 10 people*. DigiDesign's Pro Tools HD system premier computer-based application for recording, editing and mixing audio. This course covers basic recording, editing and mixing, and an introduction to TDM / RTAS plug-ins. It will address hardware and software requirements, installation, setup and troubleshooting.
Upon completion, we highly recommend Using Pro Tools: Level 2 (see below).
Using Pro Tools: Level 2
Length: 6 sessions. 3 hours each.

Limited to 10 people*. Level 2 continues with a more in-depth discussion of recording, editing, mixing, signal processor plug-ins, shortcuts, mastering and MIDI capabilities, and multimedia applications (locking to ADATs, video, etc.).
* Classes with more than 5 people will be split into two groups. Each student will get ample computer time to learn the programs hands on.

Logic Pro7 Classes
Length: 6 sessions. Tuesdays 6:00 - 9:00PM

Limited to 10 people*. Logic Pro 7 computer-based application for recording, editing and mixing audio. This course is an introduction to creating customized audio and MIDI environments and to the primary feature set and basic user interface of Logic Pro, software instruments, Apple Loops and DSP Effects.

Using Logic Pro 7: Level 2
Length: 6 sessions. 3 hours each.

Using Reason 3: Level 1

Limited to 10 people* . Propellerhead's Reason 3 computer-based application for MIDI . This course is an introduction to the basic elements of Reason, including setup, discussions of each component and the ways these can be interconnected. It is an introduction to the sequencing and different window options via MIDI, samples, editing and automation.
